But very often the file gets locked that too with a particular user account. In Run Command window, type mmc and click on OK to bring up Microsoft Management. Press Windows + R keys to bring up the Run command or right-click on the Start button and click on RUN. If you have Admin access to the network, you should be able to Unlock the Locked File using steps as provided below. If a user tries to open a file (word or excel) he's getting the well know message saying the file is “locked for editing by 'user XYZ'” -> the user who is allegedly "locking" the files (user XYZ) is always the same one and it's a simple domain user, no domain admin or such.įurthermore: "user XYZ" has never opened these files, since, according to the ACLs, he's not allowed to do so.
